My One Year Valversary (Anniversary)
Running a little late with this post, but I celebrated my one year Valversary (anniversary) of my procedure for my Mechanical Aortic Valve and Double Bypass on January 25th. I went through the procedure on 1/25/18, and I am just really doing well, and back in the swing of things with my high school students and athletes here in South Texas. I feel better than I've every felt before and am looking forward to the rest of my 50th year on Earth. I celebrated my 50th birthday in November of 2018 and can tell everyone to be patient with their recovery and to remember to be good to themselves through the process.
I also want to once again thank my wife Lisa for her unconditional love and support throughout this whole life changing experience and to thank my whole family and extended family as well as my surgeon Dr. Morales and cardiologist Dr. Blake, primary physician's Dr. Bothwell and Dr. Kaanan, as well as all of those physician assistants, physical therapist, and nurses and certified nurse assistants. I could have never done any of this great recovery without every one of you supporting me through this journey.
I hope that this update gives some assurance to others going through this and similar procedures, that life does and will improve for them.
Keep trucking fellow Heart Warriors..

Celebrated my 8th month Valversary this past week on Tuesday. Have faith Heart Warriors; life does get much better following your heart surgery and/or heart valve surgery. I am pretty much back to my regular routine and enjoying my new lifestyle (watching what I eat or drink), and making sure to keep to my medical appointments and medications. I am doing great. I may have a day from time to time, where I need to slow down, but life is 150% better than before my surgery and recovery from Aortic Mechanical Heart Valve and double bypass surgery and all complicated by a bout of pneumonia. God is Great, and I will be forever thankful to my wife Lisa and all of my family and friends as well as the medical community for getting me through it all. Best Wishes to all of my fellow and future Heart Warriors. Have FAITH!!!!
Mark Wilbur Thank you, Robert. We like good news that gives us hope! We're very happy that you are doing well.

Hello "Heart Warriors", just wanted to let you all know that I have created a new Chat Room via Paltalk.com. I am calling it "Robbs Heart Valve and Surgery Discussion". I have learned so much from fellow Heart Warriors and would like to hear from any of you about your own recovery journey. Please feel free to join the conversation. I am not always available due to my teaching career, but I love to visit when I am available. I am amazed by all of the stories that are out there and so many people want to learn more from each other. Blessings to all of you and I hope to get to visit with each of you.

I am a 49 year old male teacher/coach here in the Rio Grande Valley of Texas. I had mechanical aortic valve and double by-pass surgery in January of 2018. Now almost 6 months later, I am doing great and slowly but surely getting back to my regular routine. Sounds great when I can say that my Warfarin level is now controlled and I'm beginning to enjoy life again. Looking forward to our high school's next soccer season later this Fall. I'll be ready to go. Since I retired from coaching football about two years ago, I can now enjoy other activities. During the summer of 2017 I acquired my Texas All-Lines Adjuster license and looking forward to getting my next career going. Doing Great in The Rio Grande Valley of Texas.

Robert S. Howell Thank you Susan and Bill, wishing you both health and happiness. Just have to have patience with the blood thinner issues, they will work themselves out. However, if there is ever a chance someday of not having to take a blood thinner and keeping track of Vitamin K intake, that will be an awesome day!!! I will admit though, it's getting easier each week.
