Update at 48 hours in recovery mode. Out of ICU and all tubes out. BP stabilized without meds around 3:00 am this morning. Potassium still a slight challenge but she has suffered that for decades. Getting up and down without assistance and PT starts in earnest today. Hoping for a Saturday or Sunday release! This site has been a godsend for us in this process and cannot thank you all enough. We will stay involved moving forward.

Day 0 in the books and my rockstar wife was amazing. She was out of surgery in three hours with a new aortic valve and a decalcified left ventricle. She is in ICU now with no breathing tube. Her BP is fluctuating pretty good but told to expect that for a day or so. They manage it with meds. Her resting heartbeat before surgery was 91. This afternoon….73! Hope to get her to step down tomorrow by noon and hopefully spring the joint on Saturday. MedStar Washington Hospital Center and Dr Cohen are beyond words. Hopefully Tressa stays on this path, but confident should any complications arise MedStar can handle. Thank YOU all for your encouragement as it means the world.

Timothy Williams Great news! I second the encouragement to sit up, stand-up, and walk as able. I was most comfortable when walking in the hospital even though you can feel a little unstable and tired. While the bed seems safe, it adds to the fatigue and muscle soreness.
