Hi! I'm so happy I found this site! My valve replacement is Dec 1st in San Francisco. Because of this site, I've learned that rigid sternal fixation is the way to go rather than only wires. My surgeon is happy to do this so I'm hoping for a less painful recovery.

When first talking with my surgeon and mentioning the sternal plates,that I found out about from this site,she said that a combination was going to be used.According to her,both together formed a better bond,because the plates could move somewhat,on their own.
