Nicole DuPont  Peter, your healing looks amazing! How do you feel? I hope to progress as well as you have at 15 days. I’m wishing you’re in good spirits and are comfortably recovering.

Peter Eglinton  Recovery seems ok, although I battled a fever on days 6-12. Been better since. Neck and back pain, in addition to headaches, were also issues. Thanks for the kind words.

Catie B  Your incision is healing beautifully, Peter. Looks like you started out very bruised up! Glad to hear you're feeling better as time goes on.

Diane Esposito  Looks great, Peter. I had a lot of neck and back pain too. I’m glad to hear that your fever resolved.

Brian Morrison   Peter , the reason you had neck and back pain is because they cranked your ribs open , the ribs are connected to your spine with cartridge and it is not designed to be moved in the opposite direction .
Probably the worst part of my recovery was the pain in my back and neck . The surgeon just blew it off but it’s a very real pain , had they told me I should expect this as part of the recovery it would have been much better . I was given some tablets I think they were called Vimovo which were wonderful and released the muscle pain in my back allowing me to get some sleep .
They really don’t place enough emphasis on this issue following open heart surgery but for me it was the worst part of the initial recovery , followed by an infection of the top wire which took weeks and numerous antibiotics to get rid of . But I wish you well for your recovery

Susan Lynn  You're healing quickly! Sorry to hear about your fever and pain. Hope that the remainder of your recovery is speedy!

Naomi Gray  Way to go Peter! Do wonderful to see you smile. How was your shower? Did you have a helper, or were you able to stand and take it by yourself? Was it painful?

Peter Eglinton  Shower felt so good. No pain. All on my own (although the nurse prepared the area with everything I needed).

Lea Parker  The shower is the best thing ever, isn’t it? You look amazing! Stairs make me smile because before my surgery I had to stop halfway up and a few months after my surgery, my husband said, “look at you running up and down those stairs now!”. I don’t know about “running,” but indeed a huge difference! One step at a time, Peter!

Mike Roskowinski  Awesome news Peter. So glad to see you moving along in the recovery so well. It is almost go time for me. Will be joining you in the recovery stage here soon.

Peter Eglinton  Ah, but a little deceptive. Recovering from 2 attempts at blood draws and 3 attempts (2 arms) at IV. Not the most wonderful experience for a needle phobe. That said, the rest of day went smoothly - and it's done. Onward!

Civita Fahey  HI Peter.. I saw Dr. Sundt for a second opinion on my OHS. I liked him a lot. he was really great with answering questions. I ended up having my surgery at the Brigham ( insurance reasons) but I thought Dr. Sundt would definitely be a great choice. Best of luck.
