My surgery is set for Friday, the 24th at 7:30 am. Of course I have to be there at 5:00! It will be at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita, KS. I will pre-admit Wednesday morning at 8am. I'm a bit nervous about the whole process, but the alternative isn't too appealing. I do want to see my youngest grandsons finish high school & college . I recently got engaged to a marvelous man and want to enjoy this relationship for a long time. So, no, there aren't any choices other than the surgery. I've tried to find some alternative, but there aren't any. Might as well accept it and embrace the marvels of modern medicine!

Just found today that my heart valve surgery will be a pig valve replacement on March 24, 2017. The doctor is here in Wichita & I met with him today. The surgery will be at St Francis Hospital, also in Wichita. My husbands last hospitalization was in the cardiology ICU at St Francis & we were very happy with the staff there.

I have had a heart valve problem for the last 3-4 years. My cardiologist has been monitoring it since 2014 & this past Monday, she said it has worsened to the point where I need surgery. Tomorrow, I'm having a heart cath in preparation for the visit to the surgeon on Tuesday. I'll take him the CD of the EKG & the one from the cath. I have lots of questions about diagnosis & procedures, as well as set the date for the surgery. Will update as I know more.
